CANADIAN SKILLED MIGRATION
STUDENT VISA
TRAVEL VISA
Business Visa
Family Visa
TEMPORARY WORK VISA
CITIZENSHIP
Canada used to receive many more applications than can be processed in a timely way. As a result, the department limited the number of new applications it would consider in the federal skilled worker category every year and introduced the below 2 pathways to be considered for Canadian Skilled Migration:
  • Express Entry
  • Provincial Nomination (PNP)

Express Entry is designed to facilitate the immigration of skilled workers to Canada "who are most likely to succeed economically." The system boasts efficient processing times, with 80% of applications processed in 6 months or less.

Those who are eligible for one of the programs managed by Express Entry submit an Express Entry Profile and the Canadian government issues the successful candidates an Invitation to Apply (ITA) on which the candidates can submit an application for permanent residence. A positive result on this application will grant the applicant, and their accompanying family members, Canadian permanent resident status.

The Canadian government establishes its own annual quota for new immigrants. For 2019, Canada plans to accept 81,400 immigrants through Express Entry's high-skilled worker pathways and an additional 61,000 through Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), many of which are aligned with Express Entry.

Approximately every two weeks, the Canadian government conducts an Express Entry draw, inviting the most competitive Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian permanent resident status. In these draws, the federal government establishes a cut-off score, using the Comprehensive Ranking System. All candidates with scores higher than the cut-off will receive an official Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.

  How Express Entry works

In order to apply under express entry, the candidate is supposed to assess himself against the eligibility criteria through the online Express Entry tool available on Canadian Immigration website. The candidates are welcomed to consult us for advice should they not be able to make this assessment on their own. If the assessment criteria establish positive indications for the candidate in meeting the points pass mark, the candidate should proceed with the following steps:

Step 1: Get your documents ready

You need documents, such as language test results and Educational Credentials, to show that you’re eligible for Express Entry. Some documents take a long time to get, so you should get them ready now.

Step 2: Submit your profile

Your Express Entry profile is where you give information about yourself to Canadian Immigration Authority. If you’re eligible, they’ll accept you into our pool of candidates. You’ll be ranked in the Express Entry pool using a points-based system. Your score is based on the information in your profile.

Step 3: Receive an invitation and apply for permanent residence

Canadian Immigration Authority sends invitations to apply to the candidates with the highest scores in the pool. If they invite you to apply, you’ll have 60 days to submit your application for permanent residence.

Most complete applications that have all the supporting documents are processed in 6 months or less.

Provincial Nomination (PNP)

The Manitoba Provincial Nomination Program is an immigration program operated by the Canadian province of Manitoba. The program allows Manitoba to nominate qualified applicants for Canadian permanent resident status. The program is divided into 4 streams for different types of candidates:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba (SWM)
  • Skilled Workers Overseas (SWO)
  • International Education Stream (IES)
  • Business Investor Stream (BIS)
Eligibility Each of the 4 streams of the program has its own set of eligibility criteria.
  1. Skilled Workers in Manitoba: Targets foreign nationals who have work experience in Manitoba or a job offer from a Manitoba employer, and who demonstrate they have the necessary qualifications to succeed in Manitoba's workforce.
  2. Skilled Workers Overseas: Targets foreign nationals who have work experience in one of Manitoba's in-demand occupations and can demonstrate that they can obtain sponsorship from one of their relatives who has been living in Manitoba.
  3. International Education Stream: Targets foreign nationals who have recently completed higher education at an institution in Manitoba.
  4. Business Investor Stream: Targets foreign nationals with entrepreneurial experience who wish to undertake an entrepreneurial investment in Manitoba.

Procedure

Application procedure for the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program varies depending on the stream and program to which a person is applying. Generally, all streams follow a three-step application process:

Step One - Expression of Interest: Interested candidates must express interest in applying to their program of choice. This varies from program to program. Certain programs allow candidates to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) online, while other programs require candidates to attend an information session or conduct an exploratory visitbefore submitting their EOI.

Step Two - Provincial Application: If an EOI is approved, the candidate receives a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) from the province. This LAA authorizes the candidate to submit an official application to Manitoba for provincial nomination.

Step Three - Federal Application: All Canadian permanent residency applications must be approved by the federal government, so after receiving a provincial nomination, an applicant must submit another application at the federal level for permanent residency.

If an applicant's federal application is approved, they are granted Canadian permanent resident status for themselves and any accompanying family members included on their applicatip
